Delivery Management
Coherent performs delivery management for its engagements from either its U.S. or European offices depending on the location of the customer. Dedicated Delivery Managers are assigned to each customer. The role of the Delivery Manager is to provide a structured environment that facilitates alignment between the Coherent team and the customer and ensures high quality service delivery.
The role is staffed by experienced consultants with technical and project management backgrounds. The strong relationships between our Delivery Managers and the teams in Minsk are a vital tool in aiding our capacity to quickly establish productivity.
Unlike other vendors, Coherent Solutions does not believe in so-called “throw it over the wall” projects. Customers are encouraged to interact as much as possible with the delivery personnel in the Minsk Development Center throughout the course of projects to help ensure that the final result solves their business needs. This integration reduces knowledge transfer durations, increases efficiency, improves quality, and facilitates the flexibility needed to react to changing dynamics. The following picture illustrates the difference in how information flows on Coherent Solutions’ engagements as compared to other outsourcing vendors.
In traditional offshore outsourcing arrangements vendors generally funnel all communication through one coordinator who resides onsite. Normally, the coordinator is a mid-level resource whose primary qualification is strong English language skills or it is a sales resource who knows little about software development. This approach suffers from the inherent inefficiencies of “telephone game” style communications and it creates an environment where the client has limited visibility to the realities of the outsourcing team, which leads to misalignment with their business and in some cases nasty surprises when those realities come to light.
In contrast Coherent Solutions uses experienced, U.S. and European resident Delivery Managers to work with customers. These Delivery Managers don’t merely relay communication back and forth. Instead, they work with the team leads in Minsk to leverage metric-based management techniques to provide customers transparency to the productivity of their team and the quality of their deliverables. As such, Coherent Solutions Delivery Managers maximize customers’ visibility and control over important technology initiatives.
